A Message from the Meyer C. Weiner Company

President Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” At this time when words like “unprecedented”, “crisis”, and “challenging” have become hackneyed due to their overuse, we are resolved to adhere to our mission and culture of remaining dynamic, investing in our people and properties, preserving and growing our relationships for long-term asset appreciation and growth. This is what we know how to do and we will continue to succeed because we have navigated rocky waters before.

The pandemic is real and the economic consequences have forced us to use every tool at our disposal to maintain our core principle of performance with integrity while protecting our colleagues and our families and showing respect for all with whom we conduct business (our vendors, tenants, contractors, lenders, professional consultants.) Together, we will get through this time with our dignity and our assets.

However, there is an equally dangerous and widespread disease that continues to infect people across our country and around the world... and it is called racism. Hateful words, barbaric deeds, violent attacks, vandalism, desecration and murder are the result of this plague. Human rights offenses, discrimination, extremism and ignorance are, at best, tolerated and, at worst, encouraged by leadership that does not even try to unite us.

Former United States Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall said, “Sometimes history takes things into its own hands.” At this critical and painful moment in our history, the remedy for injustice rests in the hands of each of us.

We condemn racism and the violence, hatred and suffering that it brings, in all of its many forms. We will continue to support and embrace causes for the betterment of our community. We are committed to listening to the voices of the oppressed and we will speak out in the causes of justice, equality, inclusion and generosity of thought and action.
